Since colonial times, riding through the cobbled streets of Cartagena has been an experience. The beautiful balconies, the imposing facades of the houses, squares and churches of the Historic Center of Cartagena have a special charm when traveling by horse-ridden carriage. The experience was immortalized in a popular local song called “Cochero Chambaculero” that says: “(…) a Chambaculero coachman will take us, between balconies, streets corners of your colonial life, is here precisely here, in this enchanted city where in the light dim of an ancestral lantern, the kiss of the lover in a coach ride leads to happiness and bliss takes over your soul when a Cartagenero yells at you ´long live the couple, live the joy of being in Cartagena´ (…) ”.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE CARRIAGE RIDE?
The carriage ride through the historic center of Cartagena is perhaps the oldest way (besides walking) that is still used to get to know this wonderful city.
When touring the narrow and cobbled streets of the historic center of Cartagena, it seems that time had frozen in the eighteenth century.
Your night tour will pass through the Plazas of San Pedro Claver, Santa Teresa, Santo Domingo, Bolívar, Pedro de Heredia, Fernández Madrid and San Diego. It really is a different way of touring the city.
Maybe later you could consider the Hop On Hop Off bus, and make the most of your stay in Cartagena de Indias to the fullest. If you are interested, click here to get a combination of HoHo + Horse Ridding Carriage Ride.
